3/11/2008 A Quick Update

Hey friends!

It's been a while, once again. I thought I would fill you in on a few things. The band, Melodic Jones, is on hiatus. Not sure where things are going or if they even will. You can stay updated on the band at www.myspace.com/melodicjones.
Because this greatly frees up my time and all I can do it think about how much I miss songwriting, I am beginning to draft a plan for my next album! If you have any suggestions, songs, yays or nays, please feel free to contact me.

11/11/2007 Quick Update

Hey folks! Things are going well with the new band. I need to stay on top of keeping you all informed about our shows. We'll have more photos and things posted soon. Check out a few songs at MySpace.com/MelodicJones.

7/13/2007 New Shows!

Hi folks, added some dates as you can see. Note that they are not all solo performances, I will be joining some friends on percussion coming up. I am excited about what is to come and will keep you updated on any new dates.
Nick Z is a close friend and one extremely talented singer and songwriter. His voice. Is like. BUTTA! Seriously, do yourself a favor and check him out here. And watch out ladies, cause he "will court you with [his] voice // take it or leave it, it's your choice".
Renee Asteria aka "Agent Double E" almost needs to introduction. She's just put out her 3rd album and continues to surprise me! Her sound is always worldly ethnic and it definitely makes you shake it. Her latin-reggae style songs often infuse her inner activist. Please take a listen here.

5/26/2007 Into the Studio!

Tonight some very dear friends and I will be entering the studio with almost no plans at all. Nick Z, Lee S and Mark B are headed into Tweet Records tonight to have fun jamming and exploring while "we're rolling!" Thanks to Joan P & Mark B for the invite, we're all quite excited.

5/24/2007 It's been too long, I know!

Hi folks, I apologize for the severe lack of updates on this site. Music was secondary upon first coming to the Bay Area, but not anymore! I want to try and keep you updated with what is going on, as things have definitely begun to pick up speed. Keep in touch... ~Mason

5/21/2007 Top Selling Song

It's interesting for an artist to see sales reports on their own music. When I think of the best songs on my album, I almost never consider "Losing Control" one of them. Yet according to my sales reports, it has sold more than any other song on the album! Interesting, maybe I should start performing the song again. I have honestly not performed that song since moving to the Bay Area. What do you think?

5/13/2007 Sunday Jams!

I've begun hosting a semi-weekly Jam Session at my place on Sundays. The result has really been something amazing. I have some great recordings that I'd like to make available on the site here soon. If your interested in hearing some of our outrageous improvisational sing-along-jams, feel free to contact me. I've received a lot of great feedback since these jams have started. I'm quite happy to see the amount of interest there has been and can really feel the energy of the group on and off stage - in and out of jams - musically and personally. Don't let the music go... keep your life flowing with great songs & sounds and everything will be alright!

3/1/2007 Now Available on 40+ Websites!

3/7/2006 A quick update

Hi everyone, things are going well here. I'm writing a lot more and taking on the challenge of learning piano. Yup, I bought piano and I can't stop playing it!!!

I'm also working on putting together a new area of the site where you folks can listen, test, comment and rate my new songs. Yea, I decided to take a new approach. Instead of only performing or recording select songs of the many I've written, I'm going to let you hear them ALL! What do you think of that? "Free music from an aspiring songwriter as he excels and grows in all areas of music. Whatch the music and the artist rise on the Internet!"

So how's this for a start?

Email me (or complete this contact form) and I'll send you a link to at least 3 new songs I've written and recorded at home in the last 2 weeks!

Maybe now you'll consider coming back to visit more often!

10/31/2005 Happy Halloween!

Well, who knows where a guy should start. It's been a year almost exactly since I last touched this website. I've been living in Berkeley, California working for a great company called Better World Books and haven't had much time for gigs. This should change SOON! So should the frequency of updates on this site. Check back often for more regular news items and hopefully some gigs too!

11/1/2004 Time Flies

The CD Release Party was a success and a good time was had by all. My experiments turned out well, and it "was not what we expected," so I'm told. Which is good... great actually. The last few weeks have been quite unbelievable. My dreams are coming true, and it's all just a bit crazy. I'll be leaving South Dakota on Nov 8th, headed west to the San Francisco Bay Area where I'll start a very exciting new job, live with some of the best friends of my life, and start all over! Be sure to drop me a line, I'll have my same contact information and I can't wait to hear from all of you! Also, I'll be putting together a little blog here on this site eventually to keep everyone posted. See you in California!

10/25/2004 The Big News

On Friday the 22nd, I accepted a new job in San Francisco. I'll be leaving the week of November 8th. I'm very excited for this opportunity with a a great company. Also very excited to bring my music to such a vibrant scene and do my best to break into it.

10/14/2004 CD Release Party!!

Well, here it is... the moment we've all been waiting for. I'm throwing a CD Release party on October the 27th at DSU in the Underground, starting at 7:30. This will be no ordinary show, but the secrets I can't reveal. Bring your friends, $10 per CD. Signing afteward (if you are foolish enough to want an autograph).

10/13/2004 Album Arrival

My solo debut album will be arriving (finally) on Monday the 18th. Which means I WILL have CDs available at the Cool Beans gig in Sioux Falls with friends Rich, Dave and Kareem. If you live in the area and would like a CD sooner than the 23rd, shoot me and email and we'll try to work something out.

10/7/2004 Album Update

Man does time fly when all you do is wait in anticipation for the mass quantities of self-indulgence (CDs) to arrive at your door. Of course I’m talking about my upcoming debut album, “Where I Belong.” Unfortunately, it’s out of my hands at this point. Our friends at DiscMakers are in the process of pressing my album as we speak. The anticipated arrival date will be somewhere between Oct 14 – 18th. I hoped that I could set up some great big CD release parties as the first few gigs after it arrived, but it looks as though the show at Cool Beans with friends Dave, Rich and Kareem will the first show where the CDs will be available!

10/7/2004 I regret...

I regret to inform everyone of 2 decently dissapointing items:
1) that I won't be attending the show this weekend at Black Sheep, as I have a wedding to attend out west
2) that the gig at the Washington Pavillion has been cancelled... wish I could elaborate on this one for you, but I'll refrain. Sorry folks!

9/8/2004 The gigs are rollin' in

The gigs are startin' to roll in. Watermelon Daze has once again grown leaps and bounds (yeah- didn't think this was possible right?) from the last time you heard them. Our acoustic rendition of most the songs are phenominally fun! With an unbelievable new drummer, Joel Hegg, I'm allowed to come out front and play a whole lot of mandolin, acoustic guitar and even some skin flute (djembe). Be SURE to check it out!

6/26/2004 Ugly Fish Music Festival
